All at DGHUK are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Theodora Baker, a much-loved member of the DGH community.

Aunty Theo was a highly respected and valued presence at Dr Graham's Homes, serving as the school's Student Welfare Officer for over 30 years. She was a heroine to the generations of students whose lives she touched in so many ways, and an icon of DGH as it is today.

Theo's family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a service of thanksgiving on Saturday 17 October, at St Thomas' Church, Free School Street, Kolkata. The service begins at 10am IST.

Theo's kindness and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her, and our thoughts and prayers will be with her family and friends this weekend.

A message from our friend Bernard T. Lyngdoh, Chair of the Board of Management

In Loving Memory of Aunty Theo Baker

On behalf of the Board of Management of Dr. Graham’s Homes, we pay tribute to our beloved Aunty Theo Baker, who dedicated more than 30 years of her life to serving as Welfare Officer for our children.

For generations of children, particularly those coming from Kolkata, Aunty Theo was a source of comfort, kindness and understanding. She had a special place in her heart for every child who came into her care, standing steadfastly beside them and offering support when they needed it most.

Her care went far beyond the responsibilities of her position. Even after retirement, she continued to champion the welfare of children leaving Dr. Graham’s Homes, never losing sight of their needs or her commitment to their future.

Although our former students are now scattered across the world, the love and gratitude they hold for Aunty Theo remain. For many, she was so much more than a Welfare Officer - she was a caring presence who made them feel supported, understood and never forgotten.

Today, we honour not only her years of dedicated service, but also the warmth, compassion and lasting difference she brought to so many young lives.

Aunty Theo, thank you for the love you gave, the lives you touched and the legacy you leave behind. You will always hold a special place in the Dr. Graham’s Homes family, and you will never be forgotten.

You will now have a forever earthly home in Dr Grahams Homes and an eternal home in Heaven.

May you rest peacefully, knowing that your kindness will live on in the hearts of generations of children you so lovingly served. Dr. Bernard T. Lyngdoh Ryntathiang CHAIR – Board of Management, Dr. Grahams Homes, Kalimpong
